Libby is TWO

She is a big girl. Literally. 34lbs 2oz and 38 (although I think it should be 37 and plan to re-measure) inches tall. According to the pediatrician, this is the height and weight of a 3 ½ year old, she is healthy physically and her cognitive development is above average. She is a little behind socially I think.

She is quite the character. Very shy in unfamiliar environments. She has this look and actually whispers “I’m scared” which melts my heart. I hate that she would be scared of anything, but (secretly) it’s kind of nice sometimes because when she’s “scared” she is not running amuck. Ha!

She is curious and willful like Joshua. Last night she was trying to connect a video cable to a converter we use to connect the camera to the DVD player. It was unplugged. When I went to take the stuff away from her, she thought I was going to try and help her connect it! She clutched the cable and drew it into her chest exclaiming “I could do it”!!!

She is not however, as independent as Joshua and so she is more like Joey in that regard. She has many of the same, although lighter, features as Jacob. So she takes a little of each of her brothers, and yet she is her own self. She lights up the room when she smiles and giggles. My beautiful little girl. I know, I know – I’m partial!

As two year olds do, she can definitely throw a tantrum. Most recently, when throwing the boxes away from her birthday, she cried “my presents, my presents”. All the way to the sitter’s this morning. Yikes. Every night she wants Popsicles. This is how I get her to eat dinner.

She’s in a toddler bed now, I’ve converted the crib. I’ll update you on progress, it is slow going. It usually takes about two hours to get her to go to sleep. Last night it took 5 or 10 minutes so I hope that is the new trend!!!

Libby loves to watch and dance with The Wiggles, Mickey Mouse, Dora, Diego, and Blues Clues. She likes gymnastics with Aunt Beth . She likes to color, go shopping, take care of her babies (although the DCFS might not consider her care adequate), sing, count, and go outside. She loves her brothers, her nephew, her cousins. She looks forward to Grandma Wednesdays and anytime Beth or Gina watch her and she loves outings with Mimi. Her favorite foods are anything sweet, pasta, corn, bologna, fruit snacks, and pizza.

What does she hate? Being told no, bedtime, naptime, most vegetables, most meats, coming inside, when Grandma or Gracie leave, me brushing her teeth. Bugs. Long car rides. Sitting in carts or generally being confined.

My favorite sayings from her are:
I LOVE you
Hold you (meaning hold me)
Aw man
Icouldoit (all together)
Okay?? (when she's trying to convince you of something)
C'mon, comibby (come on, come with Libby)
Ishowyou
No way

Other updates… I’m running out of lunchtime so I’ll post more later.

  • Joey is in a play, production in @ 1month
  • Joey applied and succeeded in obtaining an arts & entertainment editor position at the Talon Times. (Lakes paper)
  • Jacob and Tiffany are doing well, Sebashton is rolling over now. He is such a happy baby, smiling and cooing.
  • Dani is in Iraq, not Aphganistan, works 6 days a week and 12 hours a day. She does bodywork on planes.
  • Kay is up north in Minnesota, feeding the flood victims.
  • Avery started kindergarten
  • Megan is leaving for Germany next week. She’ll be there for the school year. She and Laura created a blog and so I’ll link the site but need to get the web address.

Love and God’s peace to all.

Class of 1987

Okay so I get a call from Cori last week asking me to go to the mixer on Friday for our 20 year reunion. 20 years has gone by.. I can hardly believe it. I took the below from Toinette's and Tricia's photo albums on classmates.com and thought I'd post them for everyone's enjoyment. I had a good time and saw people I've not seen in so many years!
