Hi there, time for the monthly post. Let’s see…in July after Pittsburgh and (for me anyway) a relaxing week from the daily grind we went back to work.
The boys finished Driver’s Ed (both passed, yuck) so they are now both working on their experience. The state requires that they have 25 hours of behind the wheel before they can take their driver’s test. As of today they are probably both about halfway through. I have no idea how we’re going to get them a car and insurance. Perhaps a Christmas present and they will need to pitch in for the insurance. Adding those two to our car insurance policy will more than double our rates – and that is liability only for them!!!
We went to Great America for a company picnic a few weeks ago. It was so hot that day…we spent all morning in the water and then went to the picnic grove for some lunch. Our plans were to eat lunch and leave because of the heat. We left shortly after lunch but being the space-case that I am, I lost the car. I was looking for it parked in a certain section with the luggage rack attached to the back. Being that we got there so early in the morning, I was able to pull through the parking space and I forgot. This means that there was a car behind the luggage rack so I was looking for the back of the car when I should have been looking for the front. Yikes. We walked around that parking lot for SO LONG in that heat – with no shade in sight. In fact, on the way home I heard that it was 112° with the heat index that day. Poor Libby. I kept pouring bottled water all over her. I think she no longer likes the taste of water because of how much I made her drink.
We celebrated Matt’s 40th on his actual birthday this year. 7/30. We hung around the house and made him the Pilk King for the day. (As if he’s not king every day) I should have had an over the hill party. SOS for brunch and Ruebens for dinner, two of his favorites. We watched movies on the new DVD player and basically just hung out. Libby practiced a little for her birthday and it seems she will be typical. Just get her a bag full of crinkly paper and she will be happy!
Josh set the date and time for his wedding. November 18, 2006 at 4pm. They are flying in 11/10 and staying until 11/20 I think. Mom has been running around getting the reception plans together. Looks like dinner at the gun club. Last I talked to Josh they were working on the invitations. Laura will get the CDs put together for music at the reception. Mom P offered to throw a shower for Dani the weekend before the wedding. People at work are laughing at me. I guess it is strange to be planning a birthday celebration for a one year old and a wedding for a twenty one year old – within the same year.
No pictures to post on this update. What a slacker… Love to all.
